So What’s Jamie’s Plan?

Jamie Joyce may be young, but she knows how to get things done. She's arriving with legislation ready to move, a plan to make Congress act on it, and a long-term vision for a modern Congress that answers to everyday people, not donors, special interests, and foreign nations - all the while serving District 12.

  • Jamie is a Berkeley resident who has experience writing federal legislation, an expertise in government records, and has worked in the AI/tech sector. So after Jamie announced she was running for office as a democratic candidate, she spent several hundred hours writing The MAD Act (The Mass Accountability in Democracy Act). The MAD Act is a 750 page omnibus bill that rebalances power between government and the people. It takes aim at the tools that the Epstein class has at their disposal to maintain power and ensures our democracy is prepared for AI impact.

    The MAD Act is not “anti-AI,” “anti-security,” or “anti-business,” it is simply pro-responsibility, safety, accountability, and aggressively defends our rights. The public is outmatched, and we need to rebalance power. Jamie is working to get the MAD Act introduced right away - there is no need to wait for the election to demand change.

  • The “Just 12” Strategy

    Jamie is ready to serve as a legislator, but if elected, she's just 1 of 435. She's running as a Democrat, but she refuses to let a "blue wave" become “business as usual.” She's been that disappointed voter too many times.

    So she has a strategy: build a disruptive voting bloc.

    Jamie is recruiting 11 other congressional candidates from across the political spectrum to run as a unified bloc. Why 12 in total? Because neither party can pass legislation in the House without a majority. Twelve members who refuse to rubber-stamp bills that don't serve the people become a critical voting unit if the house is full - which is likely with the most contentious issues.

    Both republicans and democrats answer to special interests. A Democratic majority alone won't guarantee the progress we need. But 12 united members who answer only to voters can help change the game.

    This voting bloc doesn’t need to outnumber anyone, they just need to ensure that every bill to earn their vote by truly representing public interest.

    That's not intending to be disruptive for the sake of disruption. This is leverage. And that's how the game changes. Congress can either come to the table and negotiate or things grind to a halt and the public will become more and more aware of the common-sense, bipartisan demands being made that people across the spectrum agree needs to happen - like getting dark money out of our elections.

  • Congress is an antique institution in the 21st century. It was devised when sending a message required delivering paper on horseback - though now we bounce signals off of satellites in space to talk to people around the world.

    If elected, Jamie aims to map the workflows of Congress and bring technology into offices to ensure staff are able to be more accountable and effective in their work for the American people and this district. It can start with small updates - like allowing the constituents of District 12 to text Jamie’s office instead of needing to call in order to report their concerns.
